Carrom (कैरम): classic board, modern play
The board game from every Indian living room, on your phone. Flick the striker from your base line, drive your coins into the corner pockets, then take the Queen and cover her. Real carrom, on a board built to the real dimensions, with five ways to play it.
- 1–2 players
- 5–15 min
- 19 coins
- Easy, Medium, Hard
How to play Carrom
- There are nineteen coins on the board: nine each, plus the red Queen in the centre. You flick a striker from your own base line.
- Aim by dragging, pull back to set the power, and let go. The striker hits a coin and the coin drops into a corner pocket.
- Colours are not chosen. Whoever pockets the first coin takes that colour, and the other player has the other.
- Pocket one of yours and you shoot again. Miss, or pocket the wrong colour, and the turn passes.
- Pocket the Queen and you must cover her by pocketing one of your own coins straight after. If you cannot, she goes back to the centre.
- Clear all nine of your coins, with the Queen covered, and you win the board.
Five ways to play
- Play online: make a private friend room and share the six-character code. Your friend types it in on their phone and you are playing.
- Find an opponent: this plays the computer. It gives your opponent a name so the board does not feel empty, but it is not a person, and the game says so. It never tells you a real player was found.
- vs Computer: pick Easy, Medium or Hard and play against the machine, no name and no pretending.
- Local 2 player: two people, one phone, passed back and forth.
- Practice: the board to yourself. Try the shots, learn the angles, and take as long as you like.
A real board, not a toy one
Nothing about the board is invented. It uses the real ICF (International Carrom Federation) dimensions, so a shot that works on a wooden board works here too.
- Coins pack the way they do on the real thing: the Queen in the centre, ringed by the nine white and nine black coins.
- Physics you can learn: the striker and coins slide, bounce off the cushions and slow down the way you expect, and the same shot behaves the same way every time.
- The Queen has to be covered: the rule that makes carrom a game of nerve as well as aim.
Carrom in Khel Party
- Difficulty changes the opponent, not the rules: Hard aims better and plans further ahead. It is never handed extra luck.
- Free to play: no login and no account. Ads are the only thing you can remove.
- Themes: the app around the board follows your light or dark setting. The board keeps its teak.

Carrom tips
- Start with the easy coins. Coins sitting close to a pocket are the safest way to keep your turn going.
- Only take the Queen when you can cover her. Look for one of your own coins near a pocket first. If you cannot cover the Queen, she goes back to the centre.
- Use the cushions. Coins and striker bounce off the edges the way you expect, so a rebound shot reaches coins that are blocked straight on.
- Do not hit too hard. Full power scatters coins all over the board. A softer shot keeps the board under control.
- Learn in Practice. The board is yours, with no opponent and no clock. Try the same shot until it is in your hands.
