How to play Tic Tac Toe
- Take turns placing your mark on the 3×3 grid. X always opens the round.
- Line up three in a row, column or diagonal to take the round.
- A full board with no line is a drawn round.
- Win the majority of the rounds to win the match.

Tic Tac Toe tips and strategy
- Open in the centre or a corner. The centre square sits on four lines, more than any other square, and corners sit on three.
- Always block two in a row. If your opponent has two marks on an open line, block it before you do anything else.
- Set up a fork. A fork is one move that makes two lines of two at once. Your opponent can only block one, so you win with the other.
- Stop forks early. If you are O in the centre and X takes two opposite corners, play an edge square, not a corner, so X has to block you.
- Expect draws at the top. With perfect play from both sides, every round is a draw. That is why the match is best of 3, 5 or 7.
